Solar energy from the pottery village
In the village of Fredelsloh, many houses have solar panels on their roofs, there is a large monastery church, and a lot of nature surrounding it. Otherwise, this Lower Saxon village is known for once being home to many potteries, and for the excellent quality of its local clay.
This village continues to rely on solar energy. In 2024, the Moringen City Council decided to support ground-mounted systems as well. For this purpose, a construction area of 3.5 hectares on agricultural land was designated near Fredelsloh, out of sight of the village. The area is located next to an old quarry and is divided into a northern and a southern part. The villagers then made their land available for the solar park, for access roads and the cable route, the volunteer fire department assisted with fire protection, and local companies produced a large part of the components for the park. Thus, securenergy was able to commission the Fredelsloh Solar Park as early as autumn 2025, producing 4,500 megawatt-hours of solar electricity each year.
The electricity is then fed into the public grid via an approximately 2 km long underground cable and received the contract for a 20-year remuneration in the tender for renewable energies. A portion of the electricity revenues flows into the municipal treasury, as the operator – a subsidiary of securenergy – has its registered office in Fredelsloh, pays trade tax there, and a municipal participation of €20 for every megawatt-hour fed in.
